Server Crashed On New Year Eve

Today is last working day of the year, yeah .. it’s New Year Eve.

Our HR Manager has announced that all staff may leave the office after 1.00pm, just like the Christmas Eve.

Most of my colleague has left the office after lunch time, including my manager and bosses.

But, I can’t go, because one IBM Citrix server just crashed this morning. 2 hard drives had failed on the eve of year 2007. This is a 24 X 7 service for a customer in India. WTF!!!

In RAID technology, double disk failures in a 3-disk RAID 5 array is equivalent to TOTAL DISK failure.

The vendor has replaced the failures drives and now RAID 5 rebuild is in progress.

Hopefully, data can be recover from last week backup tape. Otherwise, I have to reinstall the Windows and Citrix from scratch :(

Server Crashed

I don’t want to spend the New Year Eve in office Smiley

Photo Hunt: Messy

This is our last Photo Hunt theme for year 2007.

Since taking part in the weekly Photo Hunting from 24 March, I have contributed 27 pictures (including this last one).

If you’re interested, all the Photo Hunt pictures are here and here.

Okay, back to the last Photo Hunt post in year 2007, the topic is Messy.

In the beginning of this year, we made a big commitment to buy a new house near to central district of Singapore.

Home renovation is messy works, tiles were laid all over the house, painting all the walls, installing new lighting and electrical appliances and many other messy works too.

Photo Hunt Messy

We engaged a renovation contractor to renovate the new place and let the professional handle all the messy situations.

The contractor has done a good job and we’re really happy living here.

Year End Bonus From Google

Just received a cheque of SG$155.50 from Google for the 2007 year end celebration. hurray !

This is AdSense earning for the month of November.

Google AdSense Cheque

This is not my first AdSense cheque, not the last one too.

Google’s adsense internet marketing program, allows end-users to view relevant ads on a publisher’s website. The website is usually hosted through a good web hosting company. But cheap web hosting companies are the best choice. Countless sites like PayPal prefer the pay per click method to run ads on other websites.

This ppc method is much more economical. Nowadays the craze for wireless internet is getting regular cable users to switch to such packages. Everyone is turning to wireless internet and buying laptops.

Also, I just requested a cashout from Advertlets, maybe will receive the money around the middle of February …. hopefully. Fingers crossed :)

And, more money coming next month ……

My Kontera earnings is exceeded the minimum US$100 payout already. They will direct deposit the revenue into my PayPal account once all the clicks are audited.

I also making small amount of revenue (US$41.07) from LinkWorth this month. Probably, I will receive the payment on the first week of Jan 2008.

Quite a good 2007 year end closing, right?

So, all my friend, making some pocket money on the Internet is not hard. Start your engine blog now.

My fellow bloggers, how much do you make lately? Must be quite a lot lah …

Another Blog Ads Network Launched on Christmas

On 16 December, I’ve highlighted that third blog advertisement network, GrabMyAds enter into local market.

Today, on the day of Christmas, I stumble across a new blog network in Asia, Nufflets. They just launched on the day of Christmas. They will give everyone of you a Christmas present of USD$15 when your blog is approved. (Read the FAQ)

Here is my comments.

Nufflets, is a word combined from NuffNang and Advertlets.

What a name?
I think, the founders should think of a better name.

Also, they are running Cost-Per-Click text based advertising and ad style is very similar with Google AdSense. I don’t know if it’s violates Google’s TOS or not?

See the screen shoot below for it’s ad size and style.

Nufflets

Do take note that Nufflets pay you in US dollar and minimum payout is US$50.

Also, Nufflets’s entry requirements is quite high, compare to Nuffnang, Adverlets or AdSense.

1. Deliver at least 3000 page views per month.

2. You must own the domain

3. Your site must serve either the following countries: Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, China and Japan

I must be too much alcohol in this festival season. During the registration, it’s taken me four attempts to get the captcha code correctly. :)

Nufflets

Otherwise, the registration process is pretty smooth.

I’ve not tried Nufflets yet, because I’m worry that Google might ban me.

Any comments?
