Chinatown Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival

September 8, 2007 · Posted in Singapore

For the first time, the Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival is held at the Chinatown’s Banda Street (opposite Maxwell food Centre), and its theme features World heritage Lanterns of 8 different nations, namely China, India, Japan, Turkey, Nepal, Cambodia, Russia & U.K.

These are reproductions of Unesco World Heritage Sites such as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Great Wall of China. There are other events like performances of incredible magic, balloon sculpting and musicians from Mexican troupe and delightful lady belly dancers to charm and entertain everyone.

A giant lantern replica of the Rusia Basilica is one of the World Heritage lanterns on display.

All these lanterns have been made by 20 master lantern makers, specially flown in from China’s Sichuan.

@chengsun, after I view for free, I felt than admission of $5 is not worth.
